Meet Mary Casimira
Mary found her artistic calling in third grade when she won third place in a drawing contest. First place went to a senior in high school, second to a junior in high school and third to young third grade Mary. But she had found her love for art. Mary’s first professional commission was in high school when a local business commissioned her to paint a mural on the entrance wall of their building.
At age 62, Mary suffered a massive heart attack which changed everything. For two and a half years she wasn’t allowed to do anything that would raise her heart rate. Then Mary discovered pour painting and resin art soon thereafter, and suddenly everything changed once again. For three years, Mary was sequestered in her art room for hours on end seven days a week.
Mary started booking shows to find that people love her work. In just over five years, Mary has sold over 170 paintings. Mary believes the best part of when one of her paintings finds a new home is when those who purchase her art share the reason why they bought the piece or how her work connected with them. Some of her works remind them of places they’ve lived, or family members that have passed. That warms Mary’s heart. Children as young as ten have bought her pieces and share their reasons why. Connecting people who love her work brings Mary a great deal of joy.
Recently, Mary and her husband’s lives have taken another turn. While she and her husband still attend shows, they now do so to a lesser degree. Mary’s husband was diagnosed with severe stage 3 COPD and can no longer do much of what he did. We are blessed to have neighbors that help load and unload the van and help us set up at local shows and to have a wonderful family and friends that help us as well, including this website! Thank you Jeff and Jen!
Mary hopes you enjoy having a look around her site, and hopes perhaps something here will bring a smile or a good memory to you too.
